A major fire broke out in the furniture market near Kalindi Kunj metro station on friday morning after which the metro services for the Magenta line in the region of south-east Delhi were stopped for several hours. There were no services thus running between Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden for a few hours in the morning. The flames were reported to have broken down early morning at 5:55am soon after which the fire tenders reached the spot and doused down the fire.

The services were soon resumed after few hours of inconvenience after which the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) through a tweet informed the public of the resuming of the metro services. The tweet said, "Train services have resumed between Botanical Garden and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh. Thank you for your patience.

The sources also revealed that the Delhi police had earlier too warned the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to shift the market elsewhere citing safety concerns. No injuries so far have been reported due to the incident as the fire was soon brought under control.
