Almost 40 plus people died in the major bus accident near the Banjar sub-division of Kullu district, Himanchal Pradesh at around 4 in the evening. The accident took place when a private bus carrying people rolled off the road and fell into the gorge.

Just as the news reached the administrative officials, the teams of disaster management authority along with doctors and administrative officials reached the spot to conduct rescue and relief operations. Besides high number of deaths, a arge number of people also suffered injuries. The people were taken out of the mangled wreckage of the bus and were rushed to the hospitals in ambulances and local vehicles.

The reason for the accident is revealed to be overloading for now. The bus is registered with the number HP66-7065. The bus hardly moved 2Km beyond the bus station when it fell into the gorge. Prime Minister Narendra Modi besides the state's Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Governor Acharya Devvrat expressed their grief over the accident and the demised souls. The district administration of Kullu has announced the immediate relief to the families of the people deceased and injured in the incident.
